The Importance of Understanding the Holocaust Through the Stories of Holocaust Victims

There have been many wars throughout history. However, nothing in the modern area comes close to the horror of World War II.

The Breadth of The Holocaust

There are many unanswered questions about why Hitler was so diabolical in his actions, but there is little doubt about the atrocities that his regime committed. The holocaust death toll is at least six million. However, the actual count of people who were Holocaust victims is only an estimate, the actual numbers are certainly much higher.

Making Sense of the Senseless

For the surviving Holocaust victims, the stories of a ruthless regime hell-bent on causing as much horror as possible are endless. In addition to the millions murdered in concentration camps through gas chambers, firing squads, and starvation, tens of millions of people’s lives were torn apart as they were ripped from their homes and communities.

Understanding the breadth and depth of these senseless killings and torturous behaviors is an essential part of trying to protect the world from future events that mirror this horrible past.

If you would like to learn more about the Holocaust and Holocaust victims, the ZACHOR Holocaust Remembrance Foundation, founded by Holocaust survivor, Ben Lesser, is dedicated to spreading awareness of the Holocaust survivors and their stories.
