Variable Flame Height Adjuster
There are times when roaring flames make the room too warm. While turning on a fireplace with the touch of a button is convenient, it’s even better when you can easily adjust the flames with another button. Some fireplace inserts gas units adjust up to 30 percent of the unit’s heat.
Thermostat
The HVAC isn’t the only home system controlled by a wall thermostat. The heat from your gas inserts can be set to the temperature you want either on the wall or with a remote.
Fan
A built-in fan takes air from the room into the firebox and blows out the warm air. This ensures that the area doesn’t become too hot when your fireplace insert is in use.
Electric Ignition
With electronic ignition, a pilot light isn’t necessary. It will save you around ten bucks each month in gas. In addition, electronic ignition inserts typically come with a backup battery to ensure that the unit will light during a power outage.

It wouldn’t be a fireplace without glowing embers beneath the fireplace. Embers are what we roast marshmallows and hot dogs over. We also warm our hands over embers. Add a few wood chips and pinecones, and you’ll swear you were sitting around a real campfire.

Accent lighting provides a real flickering flame effect in fireplace inserts. No fireplace looks complete without a mantle holding a decorative clock, some candles and perhaps a family portrait or two.
