Consider the Lemon Law, Hire a Michigan Lawyer Now

When you buy a new vehicle, you probably don’t think about what would happen if something went wrong. You’ve got a warranty that covers most issues, so you take it to the dealer and have them fix it. However, what happens if the same problem persists or multiple issues arise? In these cases, the Lemon Law is there to help you, as it protects you from defective vehicles that can drain your financial resources and cause you stress. Michigan residents may want to hire a lawyer to help them determine if they have a case.

Is Your Car a Lemon?

The Lemon Law applies to any passenger vehicle (including motorcycles) that are privately owned and any vehicle leased for personal use after January 1, 2000. In some cases, vehicles purchased for business needs may be covered, as well.

In Michigan, lemons are defined as any defective vehicle that:

   * Has an ongoing issue that hasn’t been repaired successfully after four attempts
   * Can’t be driven (out of service) for at least 30 days because of repairs.

You are responsible for reporting the issues within one year from the time you purchased the vehicle or anytime during the manufacturer’s warranty terms, whichever is first.

What to Do

If you think your car is a lemon, it may be best to hire a lawyer because they may increase your chance of success. They will ensure that every issue is documented and know where to go to get the information. They will also help you get the most restitution, such as a replacement vehicle (of the same make/model where applicable) or a refund in the amount of the purchase price (or lease cost).
